Contemporary romance
# circus, mean hero, funny, convenience marriage

This book began with a wedding scene in which the heroine says: “I take thee... to be my awful wedded husband” *and now, Grammarly is trying to correct "awful " by replacing it with " lawful "; silly app :)) * and that part was funny but I think that the author should have put a disclaimer in the book, with Gwen Stefani's 4 in the morning lyrics,: "Stay up till four in the morning and the tears are pouring and I want to make it worth the fight.
What have we been doing for all this time?
" BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT TRULY HAPPENS IF YOU READ THIS BOOK.

There are a lot of ups and downs and I laughed, I was upset, and then angry, and I cried and in the end, I asked myself why I did not read this book sooner.
Daisy is a 26 yo rich girl who got into trouble and now is forced by her father to marry a guy that she met only hours ago. She tries to please her father so she does as he askes but in her mind she decides that their marriage is gonna be awful. Alex, the groom, is a circus manager, and he lives in an old trailer so Daisy is shocked because she is not used to this new life. They seem to be opposites in all they do, but as they spend some time together, and as they are both bantering, they realized that the opposite attract. Their relationship is funny and sweet.

“What are you gonna do, angel face? Stab me with your eyebrow pencil?”

Daisy is also trying to find a place in the circus, to make friends but is hard because she is afraid of the animals and the employees don't respect her because she is an outsider and because they see that Alex is not happy with his marriage. When someone frames her for stealing money, her life becomes even more lonely so she has nothing left to do but to overcome her fear and try to make animal-  friends. She finds in the menagerie an old and grumpy tiger,  Sinjun, and as she spends time with it,  she finds in him a true and worthy friend. She finds herself in  Sinjun because she is feeling trapped and lonely, just like him, and she hated the master that put her in that cage *her father*  and the caretaker that resents her * Alex*.

As the months pass, her feelings for Alex are is changing and she now knows that she loves him, even though he doesn't love her. He says that he cannot love because he had an abusive childhood and he cannot change who it is.

“But I don't love you, Daisy, and you can't begin to know how sorry I am about that because if I could choose anyone in this world to love, it'd be you."

Daisy is not a quitter and we see a beautiful development in her: she is now fighting for what she wants, and she wants Alex. The plot is not simple: we find out more about who Alex truly is, about Daisy's father and his obsession with Russian czars, and of course about Daisy.

I loved the side characters: Heather,  a teenage girl who is trying to earn the love of her father by being the best as a circus performer, and Sheba, the circus owner and also Alex's ex. They both play a key role in the story and I loved them both.

My favorite quote is:
"<<You're letting me demean you! >> She smiled. << You can't do that. I can only demean myself.>>"

This story is amazing and I definitely gonna re-read it sometime.
