Book 4 - Entrapment - stupid and boring, I skip- read it 1/5*
Book 5 - Fidelity-Skip- read it, it was boring 1/5*
First of all, I loved the "Consequences" series and I had " Infidelity" on my Kindle for some time now, but I waited for a special moment to begin reading it because I knew that Aleatha was going to make me feel amazing reading her books. I expected treachery, a complicated plot because, with this author, nothing is what it's seemed to be.
After finishing this series I felt like the author wrote 5 books just to write 5, not because the plot asked for 1700+ pages. The entire story could've been written in only 3 books, without unnecessary details and facts, used only as a filler. The entire plot was known by book 3 and after that nothing happened.
I did not enjoy the numerous POV: Alex with all her names *Alexandria, Alex and Charli*, her mother, Nox, his father. Also, the writing was poorly executed because we have facts that happened 20 years ago, and after some chapters, other facts from 30 years ago, and again we are in the present.
The plot: Alex is a 23 yo heiress and after graduating from Standford, she wants to spend a week with her best friend Chelsea, at a resort, before she moves to NY. She wants to become a lawyer (she enrolled at Columbia University) and to be independent, far away from her family's home in Savanah.
When she meets Nox, a beautiful and enigmatic man, she is assuming the nickname "Charli" and she spends a week with him. They decide to enjoy time together without more details about each other: no last names, no personal details, no past and no future because after that one week, they will never gonna see each other.
"You don't need to tell me everything, but what you do ell me, I must be able to belive without question"
Charli/ Alex did not expect to fall in love with Nox, but she did, and she suffered when they separate ways, and even though he gave her his phone number, she did not call him because she knew that they will never be in real life like they were that week at the resort. She kept Nox in her memory as a beautiful dream, as something surreal that she will never have again.
Six weeks after she met Nox, Alex finds what she has a money problem because she no longer has her grandfather's trust fund, so she must make a difficult decision in order to continue to study law at Columbia University. Also, she finds out that her family wants her to marry Bryce, her high school boyfriend, and more than that, her mother is ignoring her when she tries to make her understand that she doesn't love him.
Alex's situation is desperate because she finds herself without her family's support, poor and without prospect for the future so she is forced to make some bad decisions regarding her future, and by doing that, her life turns upside down when the memory of the man of her dreams is shattered.
SPOILER ALERT...
LAST WARNING...
The plot was a little stupid, I mean, c'mon, she was a law student but she just took her stepfather's word about her trust fund without actually seeing the documents.
I did not like Alex/ Alexandria/ Charli/ whats-her-name because :
- she saw that her family were insisting on her to marry but she just kept talking with them in circles and when she went home to Savanah for a meeting, she stayed there for 3 days because no one told her about the day or the topic of the meeting, and even though she was not ok with that, she did nothing.
In the second book we find out more about her weak mother and about her marriage with Alex's father and also more about Nox's father, just to find out some chapters later that they were lovers some years ago. Also, Nox's father had something to do with Alex's father's death. We find out more about Oren's wife, about his father and his job, about his father in law and other unnecessary information, wrote only as a filler. And the plot thickens in the third book and we find out all we need to know about all the characters.
The fourth book was the worse: a kidnapped heroine, a delusional fiancee, a crazy stepfather, and a horny hero. Nox and Alex were kept apart by Alex's choices the entire book and the plot became crazier and unbelievable: Nox had money and men's power but Alex was kidnapped. Bryce proved himself to be a murderer psychopath and his mother was a selfish bi**tch. I skip- read a lot because I was bored to death.
When she was kidnapped by her stepfather, she kept saying that she has a plan to escape but she did not, and when she saw Nox, they did not plan her escape, they only made sex. And Alex wanted to save her mother but she did not ask for Nox's help, she just relied on her stepfather even though she knew what kind of person he is.
The fifth book was like a happily ever after fairy tale written in more than 300 pages with three epilogues just because..why not?
This series was a disappointment and it made me miss "Consequences".
